Hey everybody - Let's toss up what we know about a few of the big injury notes heading into this Week 1.

Anquan Boldin - game-time decision. Boldin says he's going to play, but pre-game and post-game host for the Cardinals, Jon Bloom, tells me he'll have to test it in the pregame before they make a decision.

Kevin Walter - game-time decision. Walter has a hamstring pull (question of a groin injury as well) and did not practice on Friday.

Bob Sanders - is out for today versus Jacksonville. The run game with MJD looks a lot better.

Matt Cassel - listed as questionable with a sprained knee. Barring a setback in warm-ups, Cassel should play. However, it's awfully difficult to chuck him into lineups against Baltimore.

Matt Schaub - practiced and should play. More as I get 'em this morning. Listen to FOX Fantasy Football on FOX Sports Radio for the next two hours!

 The other day, I was speaking with a good friend when we started on the cyclical nature of life. I was dubbed "the devil's jukebox" in my early years because of my inability to maintain silence for long. (What? You're surprised?) If you ever took a long walk on a northern California trail in the early portion of this decade, then I apologize. You probably were subjected to my jackassery of belting out tune after tune to break the silence.

 I've since had two kids running around the house, and they've both been cursed with dad's penchant for yelling. As such, I sincerely apologize for the loudness of "Locomotive Breath" and Metallica's "One," offset by the wonderful strains of Harry Chapin's "Circle." Look up the lyrics here . The fact that I'm talking about the music and adventures of the past means that I'm talking about legendary quarterback Brett Favre. We're less than two weeks after the draft, and the talk is already turning back to the Michael Jordan and Roger Clemens-type talk of comebacks. That's right. The stage is being set for yet another rally from No. 4.

 What? You thought he was going to cycle into the broadcasting and pitchman phase of his career? That he was going to ride a tractor and hang out in Mississippi? I said it before last season ended. He played too well during stretches of the 2008 season to go quietly into retirement. I don't believe that the final chapter has been written in this book yet.

 An article on Ben Maller's Rumors on FOXSports.com talked about Favre hiring a personal trainer to possibly get ready for the next run. A report on Tuesday linked Favre and Minnesota coach Brad Childress. Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com told Dan Patrick that his readers identified that a flight was scheduled from Hattiesburg, MS to Green Bay, WI. Florio added that the Hattiesburg airport normally has six flights per day, none heading to Green Bay. 

Perhaps Favre's just wanting to do rehab stint to make sure he possesses use of his arm down the line. Perhaps he's going into an advisory role like the one offered by the Packers last year. OK, the second seems far-fetched, but Favre's connection to quarterbacks coach Darrell Bevell makes this quite interesting.

 In all seriousness, the Vikings might be the most visible of potential suitors for Favre's services, but they might not be alone given the quarterback situations in several other NFL cities. You want to see tix and merchandise, clear the aisles for the No. 4 traveling bazaar!  

The Vikings: The Vikings made a move to snag Sage Rosenfels, so clearly they weren't 100% on Tarvaris Jackson. Jackson's 9 TD against 2 picks is a solid line, but he froze in big-time pressure points.

The Jets: Ideally, Mark Sanchez isn't thrust under center immediately, and we're not quite sure what the squad has in Kellen Clemens just yet. Maybe the Jets released him with the hope of signing him to a smaller deal?

   The Lions: I'll throw them out there, but it's certainly cost prohibitive. Matthew Stafford just made bank, and Favre isn't coming back for free. Can you just send him images of Calvin Johnson in action? A move here would still give him his 2-game revenge factor against Green Bay, and he could be the short-term savior in Detroit.

 The 49ers: Who knows? I like Shaun Hill and campaigned for him last year, but I'm not convinced that the 49ers are sold on him. Might he join a squad in a topsy-turvy division that could put him in position to make a playoff run?

 Others? The backup slots are curious in a number of locales. As such, an early-summer injury or even an early-season injury puts Favre back in play.

Whatever the result, we almost certainly haven't seen the last of Favre. The meeting with Minnesota is the opening salvo of a story that might drag on into the beginning of training camp once again, whatever the clauses the Vikings are trying to put into the equation about mini-camp participation.
