I felt a little older this morning when I flipped on the radio and heard the announcement that Nomar Garciaparra had signed a one-day deal to retire as a member of the Red Sox. All of my friends, editors and producers from back East are taking their moment of silence this morning to celebrate the career of “Nomaaaaaah.” Hey, even if they’ve recovered their “Rs” since relocating to the West coast, the “R” at the end of Nomar disappears when Garciaparra’s name is invoked. Don’t get sensitive. You know it’s true.

So, there’s your water cooler conversation starter of the day. Is Nomar a Hall of Famer?
