All's well that ends well, Scott Clemmensen hopes his season doesn't end in Lowell.  With the return of the legendary Marty Brodeur, the New Jersey Devils sent Clemmensen back down to their AHL affiliate in Lowell, leaving Kevin Weeks behind Brodeur. 

As inevitable as this was, unfortunately for Clemmensen 25 wins and backstopping your team in first place in the Atlantic Division and close to the top of the Eastern Conference gets you sent back to the minors.  

Of course Marty was classic Marty, blanking the Colorado Avalanche in his first game back on Thursday night 4-0.  But for Clemmensen who has rejuvenated his career this season, unfortunately he was the only goalie with options and now will have to hope another team comes calling at the trade deadline.

Perhaps that team is the Buffalo Sabres who lost Ryan Miller to a high ankle sprain against the New York Rangers on a cheap hit by Scott Gomez.  

On a personal note, as happy as I am as a Devils fan to have Marty back, I feel so bad for Clemmer.  I watched this guy down in Albany when the River Rats were the Devils' AHL team and he had such high hopes coming off of winning a National Championship with Boston College, (a team that also starred Brian Gionta) and struggled on some weak teams and like many other goalies down in Albany like for instance Corey Schwab and Mike Dunham, was unable to see the light of day being stuck behind Brodeur.  

Clemmer has saved one franchise's bacon this season, only time (more likely the trading deadline) will tell if he'll get the opportunity to save another.
