Superstitious...
Baseball players are historically superstitious...some are so superstitious that they won't even tell what their superstitions are. Luckily for us, some of them will.
Everyone has a different idea of what to do to break a slump. The Yankees' Jason Giambi dons a leopard skin g-string ... Former Marlin Mike Redmond took BP naked ... Mark Grace, well his idea of a slump buster isn't suitable for this family orientated column.
What do you do when your team is in a slump? Mets PR director Jay Horowitz went a different route (if you pictured him in the leopard g-string, I'm sorry) and donned a bright orange sports coat given to him by former Met Jeromy Burnitz. Three straight wins (at the time of publication) later and he's still wearing the jacket.
If the Mets win on Friday night, you will see Jay reading the Mets starting lineup on Saturday. (I've never rooted for a Mets win this hard in my life).
Sights and Sounds...
Joe Torre and Tim Robbins talk during BP - Superstitious ... Nuke LaLoosh wore a black garter belt when he pitched. No word on if Robbins was wearing it in this picture.

Darryl Strawberry and Billy Wagner talk near the cage.

Nick Evans, who hit three doubles in his major-league debut last weekend (on FOX) signs some balls for the fans.

The Mets' new stadium "Citi Field" in the background of Shea.

Kickin' It Old School...
If you are going old school, don't get a style of jersey that the player never wore. Gary Carter never wore that style jersey - WEAK.

Creative points for the guy with a Bill Buckner Mets jersey and to the guy with a jersey of the team mascot ... Mr. Met

What is worse? Having a Shinjo jersey/t-shirt or having the nerve to wear it to a game ... that might top the Rico Brogna jersey I saw last year at Shea

The greatest jersey ever?

A Bad News Bears Tanner Boyle jersey

In the immortal words of Tanner Boyle: Crud, No! I want to play ball!
Another Bad Song...
I know I can't sing but does that mean that I shouldn't? Probably...Here is a song I wrote about Eric Karros' hair...a little bit on the folksy side but I think you'll enjoy it
Hit the triangle to play the video...
And of Course...
You gotta like a girl that comes to the game with knee-high socks and a pom-pom (out of frame - note to my cameraman Wayne - You are better than that)

After Tiffany got over her fear that I was tring to steal her cell phone ... she enjoyed the pickup.

Warning to my fans: what you are about to see might be painful
Even the great ones don't get a hit every time ... not getting the pickup was hard enough but I could have lived without her throwing the peace sign in my face as she walked away
