    Smoke speaks the truth

Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 06:19 PM EST [General]

NASCAR "playing God" ... imagine that.

Want to find a competitor with the stones to opine that belief outside of his motorcoach?

Then tune into Tony Stewart Live on Sirius Radio. Typically by the time the show airs on Tuesday nights, the two-time NASCAR champion has had enough down time to calmly and coolly deliver a well-crafted and concise review from the race before - even if "Smoke's" post-race temperament won't allow him the liberty to do so immediately after the checkered flag falls.

And last Saturday night at Phoenix International Raceway was no exception, as Smoke left the building before the obligatory press conference. It was the safe solution.

Matt Kenseth  is currently No. 3 in the Nextel Cup points standings, and No. 3 in this week's Power Rankings.

Do you think he'll move up from there? Or will he fall lower?

Who do you think is the best, and who do you think will be at the top at the end of the season? Will the Talladega race play a factor?

    Who's the best?

Wednesday, April 18, 2007, 03:24 PM EST [General]

This week, Jeff Burton -- on the strength of his win at Texas -- is our No. 1 driver in the FOXSports.com Nextel Cup Power Rankings.

Also making the list is Juan Pablo Montoya, coming in at No. 9 after moving up to No. 13 in the Cup standings.

What are your thoughts? Does Burton deserve the top spot? Should Montoya be in our top 12 when he hasn't gotten there in the standings? Where do you think someone like Jeff Gordon, who's leading the standing, should be?

    Junior on the right track

Sunday, April 15, 2007, 08:59 PM EST [General]

Dale Earnhardt Jr. looked like he was on his way to his first win of the season Sunday at the Texas Motor Speedway.

That was until Kyle Busch rear-ended him and pretty much took him out of the race.

Junior is obviously frustrated with the fact that he's yet to win this season, and the folks at DEI are obviously frustrated because they want to give Junior a winning car in hopes it would entice him to stay with the company next season.

If they keep giving him cars that run as well as the one he drove Sunday, they'll give him another reason to stay.

Do JJ's three wins equal No. 1?

Tuesday, April 3, 2007, 05:45 PM EST [General]

It's hard to deny the fact that Jimmie Johnson is red hot. After all, the guys has won three out of the last for Nextel Cup races.

But he's not the points leader. That distinction belongs to his teammate, Jeff Gordon. In fact, Johnson's only third in the Nextel Cup standings, behind Gordon and Jeff Burton.

Is Johnson the best driver this week? Gordon had a chance to win, and is in first place. Does that make him the best driver? What about the red-hot Kyle Busch? And does Busch deserve to be fourth in this week's Power Rankings, behind Denny Hamlin?

Let us know what you think.
