    What about Jimmie?

Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 09:33 PM EST [General]

Four times this season, Jimmie Johnson has won a race and gotten to do a burnout.

You'd think four wins in 14 races would carry some clout when it comes to ranking the top drivers on the Nextel Cup circuit. But this week, Johnson sits in 10th place in our Power Rankings.

Is that fair to Johnson? Should his four wins place him higher up in the rankings? Does the fact he hasn't won in a few weeks mean it's ok to move him down the list?

    What do you think?

    Martin in the Chase?

Tuesday, June 5, 2007, 10:07 PM EST [General]

For a part-timer, Mark Martin is making his presence felt on a full-time basis.

He may not be running the full Nextel Cup schedule this season, but Martin is pretty much on pace to make the Chase.

    Who'da thunk it?

This week, Martin is No. 2 in our Power Rankings. Do you think he deserves such a lofty position? Let us know what you think.

    NASCAR loses a legend

Monday, June 4, 2007, 10:45 PM EST [General]

There's no denying Bill France Jr. made NASCAR what it is today.

That's why his death Monday caused such an outpouring of emotion and memories from those in and around NASCAR.

France's leadership and contribution to the growth of NASCAR is immeasurable. What distinguished France from the next generation was the passion he held for racing.

And he left a legacy that will not soon be forgotten.

What do you think? Do you have any memories or thoughts about Bill France Jr.?

    Has Vickers' time come?

Tuesday, May 29, 2007, 04:09 PM EST [General]

Brian Vickers made a serious run at giving Toyota its first Nextel Cup win Sunday at Lowe's Motor speedway.

But a loss of power steering and other mechanical problems conspired against Vickers and he had to settle for fifth place — still a best for Toyota.

For his efforts, Vickers ranks eighth in this week's Power Rankings, as we look forward to more good things from the Red Bull No. 83. If he can have a good run this week at Dover, Vickers will have certainly turned the corner.

What do you think? Can Vickers and his Toyota be a force going forward?

    Who's the best?

Tuesday, May 22, 2007, 08:20 PM EST [General]

Jimmie Johnson is expected to have a monster week on his "home" track at Lowe's Motor Speedway. That's why he's No. 1 in this week's Power Rankings.

But Kevin Harvick had a great run in winning the Nextel All-Star Challenge on the same track. Maybe he should be the top dog this week.

What about Jeff Gordon? Isn't he the points leader? How is he not No. 1?

Let us know what you think.
