Exactly what is it about boxing that is so appealing?
I mean aside from the ripped dudes lighting each other up in the face and the bikini-clad broads strutting around with the round indicators.
Why do men get such a thrill out of watching two dudes hop into a ring and hit each other in the mouth? Hard.
I'm not going to tell you that I don't enjoy watching a good fight. I do. However, I think one of the main reasons that I enjoy it is because I'm not the one getting my grill Forman-ized.
I'm the one sitting on the couch drinking Admiral Nelson and diet Coke's.
You have got to be one tough S.O.B to pursue a professional boxing career. However, I am puzzled why you would want to pursue a professsion that could make you look like this.

This is what Fernando Vargas' left eye and its surrounding socket looked like after his fight with Sugar Shane Mosley on Saturday night.
I mean seriously. What does he have in there? A diet Mountain Dew can?
After having seen the devastation wreaked on the great Muhammad Ali from his years of abuse in the ring, I find it fascinating that people continue to get in the ring and take a beating that can make you look like a creature from the Phantom Menace.
But, then again, people continue to suck down cartons of Pall Mall's while realizing it is turning their lungs to ash and continue to stick needles in their rears while realizing they will soon be wearing a size 9 3/4 fitted hat.
While I have never hopped into a ring and went toe-to-toe for 12 rounds, I can only imagine the emotional high that being involved in a fight of that magnitude must create.
It's gotta provide you with some kind of high if you don't mind enduring something that spits you out looking like that.
Life is violent. For Chrissakes, the Romans used to burn Christians alive to light their parties as we're worried about two consenting adults hitting each other in a boxing match? The people that want boxing should have it and those that doin't can go watch Teletubbies and have their own reality. Why should a bunch of control freaks be able to legislate this? Stuff happens in the ring, but every man or woman who chooses to glove up and climb in there is entitled to the freedom to get their face punched in if they want. I was sparring with a friend a year ago and a freak right hand, that wasn't that hard caused my left eye to close....and if I'm cool with it who the hell has any business telling me what I can and can't do because THEY disapprove? BTW, in the round after my eye got punched shut I knocked my sparring partner out.
