Welcome to Hollywood Pau
The Lakers have reportedly traded Kwame Brown, rookie guard Javaris Crittenton and first-round draft picks in 2008 and 2010 to the Grizzlies for forward/center Pau Gasol.
Brown's $9,075,000 will give the Grizzlies salary cap relief after this season and Crittenton is a talented young guard who will aid in their rebuilding efforts.
What does this mean for the Lakers?
This trade makes the Lakers instant NBA championship contenders. Gasol's versatility will easily allow him to slide to the PF position once Bynum returns and gives the Lakers the best frontcourt in the NBA.
The Lakers now have the interior defense to compete with the likes of Utah & San Antonio and can further expose their frontcourt mismatches with Phoenix.
Kobe Bryant is a Laker for LIFE
Bryant had already softened on his summer trade demands in recent weeks due to the early season success of the Lakers and the development of Andrew Bynum. This trade ensures he will remain a Laker throughout his career.
Jerry Buss and Mitch kupchak have successfully rebuilt the Lakers into title contenders for years to come.
My hat goes off to them.
The LAKESHOW is back!
Maybe history does repeat itself...
