Not to sound like Andy Rooney, but don't you just hate these weekends with no Sprint Cup Racing? I know it's Easter, but there could be a Saturday night Cup race, couldn't there? We've been racing for what, five weeks now, and we take a break already? Yet later this year, in the heat of the summer, the Cup boys will race twenty something weeks straight.

It seems as though NASCAR could divy up the off weekends for Cup a little better than they do now. Maybe seven straight, then off one. Repeated throughout the season. I also don't get some fans whining about the teams having to race twenty some weekends straight. I'm sure there are plenty of real heroes out in the Iraqi desert who would gladly trade work schedules with a NASCAR crewman.

NASCAR was taking a break after only two races until just last year. FOX TV pressured NASCAR to do away with such an early bye week in hopes that the continuity would help ratings early in the year. Guess what? FOX was right! Every race this year---except rainy Fontana---has seen their TV ratings increase.

In other good news from FOX TV, David Hill, CEO of Fox Sports, has ordered Darrell Waltrip to zip it. At least over this Easter weekend anyway. D Dub went to Vanderbilt Voice Clinic on Wednesday and was found to have inflamed vocal cords. The only cure is to shut up. In other words, it may take DW longer than a normal person would to be cured.
