Prior to the Super Bowl kickoff, and rooting for "da Bears", I couldn't help but wonder about the severity of Rex Grossman's ineptness and what impact it would upon the game's outcome.
Well, we all know now. During the regular season and through the playoffs, the Bears were able to disguise Rex Grossman's short-comings. That magic act disappeared on Super Bowl Sunday.
Intense defense, receivers making great catches on bad throws, and a good rushing game, had allowed Chicago the ability to hide Rex Grossman's inabilities.
During Sunday's Super Bowl, Grossman looked like a "deer caught in the headlights". With the Colts smartly squibbing their kicks away from Hester, with the loss of Cedric Benson, and with the Bear defense being on the field entirely to long, Grossman proved he's not the QB capable of leading a team to a Super Bowl Championship.
After 4 years in the league, his ability to throw when he shouldn't and then after-the-fact, making statements that he should have thrown the ball away, keeps refocussing upon Grossman lacking the talent one needs for a Super Bowl caliber team. With Grossman at the helm, the Bears resmbled an amateur golfer playing with a handicap.
Unable to handle routine snaps, stumbling over his own two feet, making wrong reads, not tucking the ball and picking up yardage when it was evident he could have, and making bad and indecisive throws are enough reasons for the Bear's organization to find another better quarterback.
