    Greatest Steeler Ever: Tournament Begins!

Tuesday, June 23, 2009, 03:56 PM EST [General]

Alright, so I have the field ready. I just want to share who you all voted for, and how many times: (BTW- I should have mentioned that coaches and owners were also in the field of voting. sorry)

    Jack Lambert-6
    Joe Greene-6
    Franco Harris-5
    Ben Roethlisberger-5
    Jerome Bettis-5
    Lynn Swann-5
    Terry Bradshaw-5
    Troy Polamalu-4
    Hines Ward-4
    Rod Woodson-4
    John Stallworth-4
    Mel Blount-3
    Mike Webster-3
    Jack Ham-2
    L.C. Greenwood-2
    Donnie Shell-2

    Greg Lloyd-2
    Rocky Bleier-2
    Joey Porter-2
    Kordell Stewart-1
    Yancy Thigpen-1
    Mike Wagner-1
    Ernie Stautner-1
    Dermontti Dawson-1
    Art Rooney Sr.-1
    Carnell Lake-1

The BOLDED names are the ones in the tourney. The names with the same amount of votes couldn't be given the same place, so whichever name was voted for LAST got the higher spot.

Now, just to show some you who some Hall-of-Famers who either played or retired as a Steeler whom you DID NOT vote for:

    Bert Bell
    Bill Dudley
    John Henry Johnson
    Cal Hubbard
    Bobby Layne
    Dan Rooney
    Marion Motley
    Walt Kiesling
    Johnny "Blood" McNally

Surprised? Well, there were so many great players who played for the greatest franchise in football, the Pittsburgh Steelers, that it was hard to limit it to only 16.

Now, here is the first round bracket!

1 Jack Lambert vs. 16 Donnie Shell

    2 Joe Greene vs. 15 L.C. Greenwood

3 Franco Harris vs. 14 Jack Ham

4 Ben Roethlisberger vs. 13 Mike Webster

5 Jerome Bettis vs. 12 Mel Blount

    Oh darn!

Sunday, June 21, 2009, 04:32 PM EST [General]

FOX Bloggers, if you read my previous post about the Greatest Steeler Ever tournament, I'm sorry, but I don't know what's going on now.

FOX has decided to do some new and improved thingamabob, and I don't know when this will post or if my Greatest Steeler Ever post even posted. (well, then it wouldn't be a post, 'cause it was never TRULY posted, so then it would be an unpublished scribble)

Anyways, if you see the Greatest Steeler Ever post, (if it is a post) please vote or continue voting, whichever.

But, I don't know when, if ever, I'll see the unpublished scribble/post again.

:( sorry. It ain't my fault. Oh darn!

Who is... The Greatest Steeler Ever?

Sunday, June 21, 2009, 04:27 PM EST [General]

I'm putting together a poll-style tournament to let the FOX Bloggers decide who is

    The Greatest Steeler Ever!

Some names are automatically in the tournament, but I want all your great suggestions! I would like you to list as many great Steeler players, past and present, that could be on the list!

I'll put my suggestions in a comment below.

Please, give me no more than 16 suggestions per person. If a name is twice listed in the total comments, that name will be on the list.

In a couple days, I will post all the names who made it into the tournament, with the most-voted for receiving the #1 seed, and the least voted for receiving the #32 seed.

This tournament will play out every few days, and any FOX Bloggers who wish to vote simply leave a comment on that post.

In each match-up, the Steeler with the most votes moves on in a bracket-style format. At the end of the tournament, we will know, according to the FOX Bloggers, who is...

    The Greatest Steeler Ever!

Comment your suggestions now! Thank you!

    Okay, SERIOUSLY?---Mike Greenspire

Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 03:56 PM EST [General]

This is a new "quick-post" I'll be doing whenever I feel a few things in sports need my take on them. (haha)

    Okay, here goes.

    Topic 1:

Browns wideout Donte' Stallworth gets 30 days in prison for DUI manslaughter

Okay, seriously? WTF? If me, or you, or your brother (unless he is Donte' Stallworth) did this, we'd be getting 15-20 YEARS!

This guy gets 30 days in prison, 1000 hours of community service, and 10 years probation.

This is absolutely outrageous, and I can't believe that even as "cooperative" as Stallworth was, he only gets a month in prison. Do you know what this S.O.B. is gonna learn from this? Nothing, more than likely. I'm disgusted, let me hear your take.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Topic 2:

Breaking News: Report: Sosa tested positive for performance enhancers

Okay, seriously? THIS is news? I don't know about you, but this always seemed like common knowledge to me.

Was there a doubt in ANYONE'S mind that this guy used PED's throughout his career? Seriously? No. Why this is "BREAKING NEWS" must be because of the report because what the report contains is nothing new.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Topic 3:

    Brett Favre is STILL there

Okay, seriously, Brett, I have stood by you the ENTIRE time you were transitioning from the Packers to the Jets, the entire time you were in NYC, and even after that. But, now, I'm afraid I can't stick up for you anymore.

I am tired of your name being the first thing I see when I turn on SportsCenter EVERY NIGHT! And this vindictive crap you're trying to pull with the whole Minny vs. the Bay thing? Cut it the f*ck out. I am TIRED of it. And so is everybody else.

I'm sure there are hundreds of thousands of people in Minnesota that DO NOT want you on their fave team. The Vikes players don't seem to want you. The only guy who does want you is that angry old joke of a coach, Brad Childress. That's why he wants you, because you are both PINHEADS. You'd be nearly perfect together.

Get over yourself sometime soon, @$$face.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

What do you think about these topics? Give me your take on topics I didn't cover. Are there any topics you'd like to hear my take on? Just let me know in a comment. Thanks!

    Have a good day!
