That's it! I am completely done with fans! I can't take this ridiculous behavior by fans. I'm not talking about obscenities in the stands or even running onto the fields and attacking umpires or coaches. It is these moronic fans that jump on top of kids to get to foul balls and file suits for the rights to balls that are hit into the stands. I understand that these balls are free, but we are not entitled to everything that is given away.
Today, a fan has filed suit against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for discrimination after not receiving a tote bag during last year's Mother's Day giveaway to women over 18. He claims that men and people under 18 were unfairly treated and demands $4,000 damage to each person who did not obtain one.
This is just another guy looking for something for nothing. Maybe he wants one of those pink bats too that are benefiting breast cancer for this year's celebration of Mother's Day. I hope his wife left him after this because this is the biggest act of self-interest for an item that probably costs $20 at the gift shop. The Angels even sent him four tote bags and apologized. I would have tried to give him a life; he needs that more than a tote bag!
In response to the suit, the Angels have extended this year's promotion to include everyone over 18, but the fan states that this violates the civil rights of those under 18. Great idea, so this means that when a beer company gives a calendar with scantily clad girls to fans over 21 that a 19 year old can sue in order to get one?
Here is my solution to the problem. Stop doing these promotions for fans because they are unappreciative and don't know how to act at stadiums. I realize that most fans work hard and this is their opportunity to unwind, but to act like the second you hit the turnstiles that you leave your manners at home next to the gun you can't bring in is stupid. Put up nets all around the baseball fields so the balls can't reach the stands, the same way football does it for field goals and extra points. Buying a ticket doesn't give anyone the right to act like a complete jackass the same way that fans complain that athletes don't have the right to ignore fans because they make lots of money.
It's time to show those kids you trample over for the foul ball how to act at a game. Show those kids how you watched the game and talked to your dad about the different players on the field. Do us all a favor and just cheer for the team you support and boo the team and players that are playing against them. Is that really so much to ask?
