I just wanted to post a quick update. Eric had his surgery a couple of weeks ago, and things look really good.
The cancer was confined, and indications were that there was no spread. As is the nature of testicular cancer, he will be under what we call surveilance in which they monitor ct-scans , bloodwork , and such every few months to make sure that there was no spread. Kind of like what he was doing before the surgery.
So, all in all, this is the best situation to be in in regards to having tc. The chances are good that the surgery alone took care of it. He is consulting with the experts in this kind of cancer just to make sure the direction is clear, and he was really looking forward to getting in the pool.
It was just awesome to see him get the chance to follow his dream. What an experience Beijing must have been !! No, he didn't make the finals, but I think swiming your best time ever, and being in the top 10 of the entire world is itself is a huge win. Especially under the circumstances.
Lance Armstrong said at the beginning, that he thought that this would bring an amazing power to Eric. Lance would know. We all remember what he did after his battle with tc. 7 Tour's in a row.
2012 is not that far away, and there is all kinds of meets in between. I think Lance may be right.... Eric's future is very bright indeed.
