I need a cure for Philadelphia Hockey Syndrome

Monday, October 23, 2006, 10:52 AM EST [Petr Nedved]

This hockey season instead of being a faithful reporter to the sport I've grown to appreciate I've been a slacker.  Label me since I haven't written an article or blogged about the NHL.  I am a slacker who is suffering from Philadelphia Hockey Syndrome.

As I ate my lunch today at Subway, I almost gagged on my rotini soup.  They fired Ken Hitchcock.  I couldn't believe it.   Bobby Clarke resigned from his job.  Where have I been?

All the sudden I felt angry and disgusted as I hungrily crunched on some saltines.  I needed a drink of water. I've been too  busy following the Detroit Tigers.

I blame myself.  I've been too busy carousing in Toronto at the ACC with the Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames to really care about the Flyers.   I was too busy watching Sundin score his 500th goal.  I will continue to make excuses.

I missed the fact that Petr Nedved is now a rival in the AHL just a couple of miles away from home.  What happened to his super model girlfriend?  Oh, he is divorced now as she graces the cover of my Newport News catalog.  Maybe I should insert a picture to make the Blog of The Day.

My hockey world is turning topsy turvy not to mention that the Chicago Blackhawks are actually winning games.

I need a cure for the Philadelphia Syndrome.   Please help.
