Marty Turco, making his seventh straight start and 14th in the last 15 games, finished with 19 saves in winning his 20th game, becoming just the third goaltender to reach 20 wins this season as hard work and three power-play goals helped the Stars defeat the visiting Nashville Predators Friday night at American Airlines Center by a 4-1 margin.
Antti Miettinen picked the perfect time to break out of his offensive drought. Miettinen scored twice and Dallas used three consecutive power-play goals to defeat the Predators. "We can be tough to play against when we win our one-on-one battles," Miettinen said. "Today was a solid 60 minutes for everyone." Especially for Miettinen, whose two-tally effort was the first multi-goal effort of his career, and snapped a scoreless famine that had reached 10 games. Miettinen's last goal came against Detroit over a month ago.
Miettinen tied the game at 1 after scoring his seventh of the year 5 1/2 minutes into the middle frame with the Stars on the power play. "We do have the talent to have a solid power play," Miettinen said. "We are communicating more, moving the puck well and adjusting to make things work."
The Stars' next game is today against the San Jose Sharks at 7:00 pm. The Stars host the Sharks in the traditional New Years Eve game at American Airlines Center. Dallas has defeated San Jose twice in the three games the two teams have played this year.
